Chief Strategy Officer

Michael Sherman, MD, MBA, MS is a nationally recognized thought leader who spent most of his career as chief medical officer of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and then at Point32Health. A major area of focus was bringing cutting edge precision medicine tests and services to consumers in a world in which the current healthcare financing structure can sometimes create barriers. He has also served as a venture partner at RA Capital Management.

Dr. Sherman received Xconomy’s “Contrarian Award” for his contributions, including having developed and executed the nation’s first value-based payment model for a gene therapy, and his work is also featured in a Harvard Business School case study published in 2021. He has also led the nation in expanding access to precision medicine, such as whole genome screening, and his organization became the first health plan to cover the GRAIL Galleri Multi-Cancer Early Detection Blood Test for a subset of its commercial members in 2022.

Before pursuing an M.B.A. at Harvard Business School, Dr. Sherman received his M.D. from Yale and holds B.A. and M.S. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sherman frequently speaks at regional, national, and international conferences and has also delivered congressional briefings on precision medicine.
